What is ‘Applied
Equine Podiatry?’
“The essence of Applied Equine Podiatry is the
conscientious study of the equine foot, always
striving to expose it to proper environmental
stimuli, making every effort to promote proper
structure and function, as we attempt to achieve
high performance."
- KC La Pierre, RJF, MEP, PhD
Applied Equine Podiatry works to achieve and
maintain equilibrium within the equine foot and
achieve structural balance in the whole horse.
Applied Equine Podiatry does not focus on a barefoot
trim alone, but looks at environment, conditioning,
nutrition and exercise to enable a horse to achieve
high performance without the need for shoes.
Through teamwork with podiatrist, owner and
veterinarian, the aim of Applied Equine Podiatry is
optimum health, fitness and wellbeing for the whole
horse.
Do you need an Applied Equine Podiatrist?
Have a look at the following questions:
• Is your horse lame, but no one seems to know why?
• Is your horse not responding to conventional treatment, or
deteriorating?
• Do you look at your horse’s feet, and feel they could be
healthier?
• Do you have problems keeping shoes on your horse?
• Do you look at your horse’s feet and think they are an odd shape,
or different shapes?
• Would you like for your horse not to have to wear shoes?
• Is your horse shoeless, but ‘footy’?
• Is your horse shoeless, has good feet, and you’d like to keep
them that way?
• Would you like high performance from your shoeless horse? For
instance, long trail rides, endurance, eventing,
racing, hunting?
If you can answer ‘yes’ to any of the above, give me
a call!
