KC La Pierre and the HPT Method
 |
KC La Pierre, RJF, MEP, PhD spent 20 years as a
practicing farrier in the United States. He saw
that, no matter how good the farrier, a horse’s
hooves always seemed to deteriorate over time, and
he began to look at alternatives.
KC has defined his work as the Science of Applied
Equine Podiatry based upon his research formulating
the Suspension Theory of Hoof |
Dynamics. From this,
the High Performance Trim Method evolved.
KC founded the Institute of Applied Equine Podiatry
in 2003, the goal of which is to integrate the
practice of Applied Equine Podiatry and Whole Health
Hoof Care into the daily care regime of the horse.
The High Performance Trim (HPT) is a unique Method
and a tool used within Applied Equine Podiatry. It
has been developed by KC La Pierre based on the
Suspension Theory of Hoof Dynamics.
Using external references, the Method balances the
hoof capsule to the internal structures of the foot.
This enables the hoof to utilize correct pressure
needed to produce correct growth, by using
environmental stimulus to achieve mechanical
balance, equilibrium of function and individual high
performance.
An Applied Equine Podiatrist's over whelming
priority is the welfare of the horse and to ensure
the golden rule of "Do No Harm" is not broken.
